FRANCO HÜLLER

Franco Hüller is an Italian visual artist whose work spans painting, photography, installation, performance, and video art. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, he has lived and worked in Prague since 2008.

Hüller's artistic practice is rooted in abstraction and driven by intuition, chance, and layered visual storytelling. His work often explores the boundaries between form and meaning, inviting viewers to engage with open-ended narratives.

Franco fascinated me from the very first moment with his creative energy. There’s something rebellious and mysterious about him, he reminds me of an artistic pirate. On top of that, he is extraordinarily prolific – in the studio, he would pull one painting after another, and when he unrolled a roughly twenty-meter-long carpet of his works, I immediately wanted to lay it out in the middle of the gallery. He is a corsair of creativity, conjuring miracles right before your eyes.

“The priest of Varlungo lies with Monna Belcolore: he leaves with her his cloak by way of pledge and receives from her a mortar. He returns the mortar and demands of her the cloak that he had left in pledge, which the good lady returns him with a gibe.”
